Join us for a virtual reading of “Citizen Reporters” co-hosted with King’s English

Join us for a virtual reading and meet author Stephanie Gorton in conversation with former LA Times national/foreign correspondent and UIJP board member Rone Tempest.

The virtual event hosted by King’s English Bookshop will be Thursday July 9, at 6 p.m. and you can sign up here.

The book is a stirring tale of the rise of the “muckraking” investigative journalists of the gilded era. Led by the mercurial publisher S.S. McClure pioneering reporters like Ida Tarbell helped expose the evils of the robber barons of the era like Standard Oil’s John D. Rockefeller.

Through fearless reporting and dogged curiosity these reporters helped rewrite America and helped the nation reform the excesses of some of the most corrupt and powerful titans of industry.

We’re also excited to offer a special gift this month. It’s July which means it’s our annual “muckraker” membership drive, and this month if you commit to a recurring monthly donation of $5 or more we will send you a copy of Citizen Reporters along with a signed book plate from the author.

Visit utahinvestigative.org/donate and follow the PayPal link. Then just click the box to “Make this donation monthly.”

It’s that easy!

Our own investigative efforts have always been supported first and foremost by our loyal readers making small but meaningful donations. We hope this book gift can be considered a small token of our gratitude for your support.

Thanks and we’ll look forward to seeing you virtually on July 9!
